Allen County Public Library Events – Explore The Honey Bee

Investigate Bees With Us!

We’ve teamed up with many of the Allen County Public Library branches this summer to help the area’s little explorers learn about pollinators! The event at each library branch is cost free to attend and lasts about 90 minutes.

What’s It Like?

• Customized activities for teens, but all ages welcome.
• Discover how neat & helpful honey bees are to us.
• Learn about the life-cycle of the honey bee.
• Investigate how honey bees work together and communicate to keep their hive strong.
• Learn about what can be done at home to help honey bees and pollinators.
• Explore a sealed observation hive with live bees inside (safe for all ages).
• Look close up with a digital microscope.
• Taste natural honey.
• Includes a take-home packet with fun educational activities.

Not a beekeeping class. This unique event has been designed to open the minds of our students with an interactive learning experience that connects them with the natural environment and helps them learn how pollinators contribute to where our food comes from.
